DIning out. What’s the deal?

Ever wonder why you can’t lose weight? You are making smart choices with what you consume but you still feel inflamed and bloated. This ties into whether we are preparing food at home or going out. Going out to eat is a huge part of our lifestyle. Any special occasion, we’re thinking of where to go eat to celebrate with friends and family. The problem? Majority of restaurants cook with seed oils. Seed oils, high in omega-6 fatty acids, can cause inflammation in the body. It is hard to shed weight when we are in a state of inflammation. Our body’s are working hard elsewhere and can’t thoroughly digest and metabolize food the way it is meant to. You may be ordering meat at a restaurant cooked in seed oils that will be digested very differently by your body than the meat you cook at home. You may even opt for low carb options only to find you still gain weight. This is why I am passionate about restaurants and food establishments that work to do better. Sweetgreen and True Food Kitchen are two examples of this. They cook with avocado and olive oil which are way better choices for us. They also serve grass-fed and pasture raised meats. Next time you are out to eat, see if the kitchen will cook your food in butter rather than seed oils and look for places that use better options!
