WHAT IS HEALTH?

What exactly is health? What contributes to someone being “healthy”? Is it a certain weight? Size? Is it because your doctor says so? The truth is, there is no clear cut answer. We have a lot of evidence that might suggest we are healthy but it doesn’t mean very much if we don’t feel well. At the core, health is really how you feel in your body both physically and mentally. It is how energetic you feel, how strong and how much vitality you are living with. This all sounds great right, but how do we actually achieve this?

Focusing on your health exists on a continuum. It is a lifelong process. It takes dedication, effort, intrinsic motivation and a drive to feel your best inside and out. You have to ask yourself, are you here for a long time or good time? The answer must be both. Life expectancy has gone up however it is met with a series of chronic illnesses that rob of us “life” in our later years. The idea that we will age with aches and pains and health ailments is a paradigm that must be broken. Your habits and lifestyle will determine how you age. Partnering with someone to help you establish these habits, hold you accountable and really motivate you to live your best life can help make tremendous changes to your health. The question then becomes, how much do you value your health and wellness?

I became passionate about my health years ago. I grew up seeing elders become sick with age. I struggled with chronic gut issues, anemia, a nerve issue in my neck that left me with debilitating pain and an overall feeling of low energy. I am happy to say that none of these things impact me anymore. I have taken my health into my own hands and feel better than I did at 18. The number 1 way I did this? I learned to really listen to myself. Your body is always talking to you, you just have to slow down and listen!
